When I read a review that said these could catch light, I immediately returned and spent twice as much on Makita originals. Cheap is not always good, and the risk of fire is very unwelcome.

This is an excellent charger. Much faster than the standard one. Getting two genuine batteries at a reasonable price is even more of a bargain with this charger included in the deal. It fits perfectly in the Makita case for my reciprocating saw but not sure what other cases/inserts will accommodate it. Most cases have spaces for batteries but you may need an additional box or bag for the charger.The potential downside is that it doesn't fully charge the battery. The latest 'wisdom' is that battery life is improved if batteries don't get fully charged or fully discharged so this unit would support that strategy. Alternatively, you can top up the battery with the standard charger - it would still be much faster than using the standard charger alone.
